On the 9th April 2025 we commemorated the 80th anniversary of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s execution with a memorial day at the Emmanuel Centre, Leeds. The event was held in partnership with Universities Chaplaincies in Leeds and St Luke’s and St Matthew’s Lutheran Church Leeds. It was an honour to be joined by Bishop Martin Lind, who delivered a memorial lecture, and Revd Dr Keith Clements who offered a thought provoking response. To end the day, Pastor Silke Halfmann joined Rev Tim Nicholls and Rev Joseph Nelson in sharing a memorial communion.
Over 100 people joined us either in person or online. We are particularly grateful for the financial support of the Council of Lutheran Churches for contributing to this event, and for Matt Collins for ensuring the event was available online.
